One of the largest and most beautiful theatres in the Northwest, the Lester Centre of the Arts turns 30 this year and Prince Rupert is celebrating in style with a gala event this Saturday February 4th. Opening in 1987 under the name the Performing Arts Centre, our theatre has presented local, regional, national, and international talent to welcoming audiences. Home to the BC Annual Dance Competition, the Lester Centre has showcased fantastic dance performances by aspiring dance stars as well as presented professional dancers as they will later this anniversary year with performances by Danny Nielsen in LOVE.BE.BEST.Free on February 25th and by the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada who will perform the Phantom of the Opera ballet on April 15th.
This weekend’s gala will showcase local talent starting at 8pm with a wine and cheese reception in the lobby at 7pm. Tickets are available at the Lester Centre of the Arts and at Cook’s Jewellers.
